Catching up….

I was terrible about blogging during my time off this winter and yes… despite taking off, I couldn’t resist some shoots and was shooting anyway. I figured I would make the time today to get in a blog post of one of my absolute favorite clients. Lollia turned one in January and we celebrated with a mini-session.

I loved this session for it’s clean, simple tones and little girl colors. Clean- I use the word all the time when talking about my work but it’s something I very much strive for. Work that is processed clean, has an airy feel, and focuses on the simplicity of the moment will always be timeless and always be in style. Clean images are the images I always love, no matter the time of year, no matter what mood I’m in, no matter how many years ago I took the photograph. Of course, a clean image starts with a great quality image right out of the camera- proper exposure and white balance. Then comes the editing portion. It is easy for starting out photographers to throw contrast and tones at an image and completely destroy the quality of the image. I know this because I was there once as well- it’s hard to learn clean processing. It takes a lot of skilled editing to make an image have perfect skintones and soft-handed contrast, and we spend a lot of time really treating each image as unique and being careful with our editing. In the end, we know it pays off.
