Yale University

When people think children’s photography in Connecticut they rarely think college campus, but Yale University is such a cool place to shoot- I’m always delighted when I get to shoot there. Here’s a few photos of one of my favorite families. We did this shoot for father’s day and had a ridiculous amount of fun- we always do don’t we!? Little “K” was one of my first clients and will always be special to me- she’s so much fun, so stylish, and so spunky. And how gorgeous is her mother? They make my job very easy. Since the last post was all color, I’ll do an all black and white post. Love these black and whites… they have such a filmy, journalistic quality.

Can’t wait to see you guys in August!

Elizabeth Park at Dusk

Evening sessions… they’re so much fun. As a photographer I love to shoot with the golden light of the evening. It makes for beautiful environmental portraits and backlighting.

This is little “J” and this is her second session this year. Last time it rained a lot so we decided to do another shoot at the beautiful Elizabeth Park in West Hartford, a great location for portraits in the summer time. It is in full bloom right now too! The interesting part about this shoot is I suggested we do the shoot there- come to find out that is where little J’s parents were married- which I didn’t even know at the time! :) It was a ton of fun and I’m looking forward to my next shoot there. Here’s a few favorites!

And my personal favorite….

Keep an eye on the blog for another newborn special announcement! :)

Angel Baby

I had to share this baby from Friday. The session was a ball and his parents were so fun and casual. I find that always shows in the photos- the expressions are natural and you can just tell that we were having fun.

To little B’s family, he was absolutely incredible! I know I told you a million times during the shoot how wonderful he really was, but it really was such a fun shoot for me. I kept gasping the entire time I was downloading pictures that night at my studio. He was just full of adorable expressions and his eyes look amazing in every shot. I really hope you like this sneak peak!

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s out there! Relax and enjoy it!

It’s official…

I’m a terrible blogger. I had a good photographer friend of mine say to me the other day, “I haven’t seen you update your blog in awhile! Do you not have a lot of business?”  In fact it’s been the very opposite.  We had a sudden surge of newborns in the studio this past May as well as some other great kids that I got to meet for the first time, and some babies I hadn’t seen since they were tiny newborns themselves!  I also participated in the OUT Fest Auction here in CT and a display opportunity at the Farmington Farms Tennis Club.  All in all it’s been a crazy May.

I just returned from Cancun, Mexico so we’ve been working hard to catch up on orders here at the studio. Don’t worry photos are on the mail to clients waiting!

***If I do not post again by Sunday, anyone who emails me before Sunday at 8 pm will receive 50% off of their session fee for any upcoming summer shoots.  I am trying to be a better blogger.***

A note to anyone thinking about late summer sessions, I am scheduling in July and August now, starting to fill up weekend slots for both months so contact the studio as soon as you decide that you want a session.  As a lot of clients remember for last year, September marks the start of my busy season so I am trying to get as many people in before Christmas as possible.

Just wanted to share a few favorite photos with everyone!  Here are two little girls that were absolutely adorable.  I felt like a very lucky photographer on this day.  To the Mom and Dad of this family, your children were great, although I think the three of us had more fun than they even did.  I’m still recovering from the tree branch

Now announcing mini sessions- limited time only.

Available to previous or current clients for 50 percent off the price of the session in honor of welcoming everyone to our new studio. This includes clients from summer 2007 during our portfolio building special. I look forward to hearing from many of you soon!

Newborn Special

All newborns booked during the month of April will receive 50% off their session fee! This applies to all mothers who are expecting within the next three months or have a baby under the age of 3 weeks. Please contact us to book your appointment- we are looking forward to meeting new Connecticut babies!

Many people aren’t familiar with what a modern newborn shoot is like so I wanted to take a moment to give clients a better idea. It is now more popular than ever to do a photoshoot of your newborn when your baby is only a week or so old. My ideal age for a newborn is between 5-15 days of life, before the newborn acne begins. Sleeping newborn photos are the modern way to do a newborn’s shoot and so in order to have sleepy babies, babies shoulder be photographed as young as possible. I ask that anyone looking for a newborn shoot contacts me before your baby is born so we can pick a tentative date about a week after your due date. Although I always try to get some photos of your baby awake, it’s the nude, sleeping photos that capture the essence of the first days of life the most. Here’s a few photos from recent newborn sessions.

Baby C was my first newborn session of 2008. He had the most gorgeous head of hair. We hope to see him this summer to see how he has grown!

In February I got the pleasure of photographing newborn twins, Baby B and Baby H. They were beautiful little boys and actually, you’ll notice Baby B on the header of this blog!

Finally, please meet Baby O from last fall. Her parents are some of my very favorite parents and I absolutely adore this little one as well. She has the most beautiful dark eyes.

Please contact the studio to book a newborn session before May 1st for the 50% discount. Gift certificates for expectant mothers are also available.

Welcome to our new blog!

As some of you might have noticed, the Erin Bell Photography blog was not updated for months. I can finally reveal that that was a good thing! We were in the process of moving into the new studio in Avon, CT and doing a lot of renovations to it- including laying down beautiful wood floors so I’m very excited about that. The studio is more or less finished with the exception of the overhead lights needing to be done and photos needing to go up on walls.

Here’s a quick picture from when it was first finished. I’ll take some new finished photos soon to share with the blog.

In addition, I was working to get a new blog started where I could post much bigger photos for clients… so here it is! Sneak peaks will now happen after every session again so keep your eye out for that. Please check the blog over the course of the next couple days because there will be many things to catch up on and a lot of information for current clients. Thanks and welcome!
