We hope everyone is doing well! Our month off flew by and now we are back to shooting, and most importantly, still finishing up planning for 2010. You may have noticed a new look… that is just one of the things we are changing up for this year. We think everyone will be very excited about the new changes this year.

Here is just one more exciting element… We look forward to showing you how we will work video into our shooting style this year. This is the talented Jen Cota’s beautiful son, for all the photogs reading this. Jen has been such a good friend to me and I can’t wait to start using the new calligraphy piece she did for me. She is multi-talented!

Connecticut Newborn Photographer // Connecticut Baby Photography

Since it is ‘newborn season’ in the photography world (at least that’s what most of us photographers see it as) I figured I would post some of my favorite 2009 newborns to start the season off right. Our studio photographed more than 50 newborn sessions this year and while I would love to post them all, I think I’m going to go through and post just a few to look back at.

There are many photographers in Connecticut now offering newborn sessions, but we like to think we stand out for our work. We walk away from every session making sure we’ve gotten a wide assortment of the images we need. We aim to capture many different kinds of art at each session including the fine art black & white images, the more lifestyle, fun images that we prefer in color, parent and baby images, and finally, the sibling image- the absolute most difficult and yet most rewarding. We want the parents of newborns to have many different views of their new little one. We want these parents to look back on their newborn image and see beauty, and then realness, and then the very first bonds. A session is not complete for us without a mix.

In the spirit of newborns, here is a collection of our favorite newborn images from our blog in 2009.

Fine art…

Fun & color…

And of course… we work very hard for the classic new baby and older siblings shots. These are the toughest, and yet always the most special.

Please view our website for the complete newborn gallery. It was just updated last month and if you haven’t viewed it in awhile, you’re in for a treat. We look forward to posting the 2010 newborns in the months to come.

Studio Update // Connecticut Baby Photographer

Just wanted to check in with everyone on the blog! I’m in Nashville at the moment, leaving the Imaging USA conference put on by the Professional Photographer’s Association of America. I’m heading back to Austin for 2 weeks of sporadic shoots and 2010 preparation. I am looking forward to getting back to Austin and picking my dog up at his daycare- it’s been almost 5 days!

At the end of January I begin my cross country trip back to Connecticut and will be in Connecticut until next winter when I visit Austin for a month or two during the down season. I’m looking forward to finally being in one place for awhile- traveling is exhausting!

Imaging USA was a wonderful event with many speakers talking about children’s photography and newborn photography. Some of the best children’s photographers in the country spoke. Just some of those names were Lori Nordstrom, Julia Woods, Laura Novak, and Kimberly Wylie. It was inspiring to say the least. Most exciting, I have some amazing new products & services that I’ll be offering this year. That list includes…

*custom framing
*optional ordering consultations
*one new gorgeous modern flush mount album
*more customized sessions
*’itty bitty’ sessions year round (our new fun way to call mini sessions)

and probably most exciting of all….

we are finally, for the first time ever after many requests, offering slideshows from your session. Slideshows include video from your session (if you can believe that!) and are truly beautiful pieces. I’m so looking forward to presenting these to everyone this year.

In the mean time, we are currently booking for 2010. January is full and we have unfortunately filled all of our newborn slots. February is nearly full as well, so if you’d like a winter session, please email us this week. We are still taking 3 newborns for the month of February. We are currently booking for some final slots in February and then beginning in March.

Hope everyone had a wonderful winter break! See you this year!

January 17, 2010 - 11:42 am Zainab - Good Luck for 2010! Looking forward to a great year of new and beautiful photography! How does one secure a session for Feb/March? Ive emailed many times but have never heard back.

Fall Favorites // Connecticut Children’s Photographer

Finally, fall. Another great season bringing us to the point we are now. Hope you enjoyed these!

1. I can’t resist a simple black & white and baby skin.

2. Laughing kid theme… can’t resist.

3. And to end the ear, a soulful dad and son black & white image.

Summer Favorites // Connecticut Newborn Photographer

Choosing favorite images for summer was even tougher. I did more sessions this summer than I did in all of 2008 so there were quite a few to choose from. It was a wonderful summer meeting all of the great families during the warm weather.

1. The last image of the session- love it.

2. Yet another set of newborn twins… gorgeous little ones.

3. Can you see my theme of laughing kids? I love this little girl every time I photograph her, so I’m probably a bit bias.

Summer Favorites // Connecticut Baby Photographer

Choosing favorite images from spring was extremely tough… so many sessions, amazing light, first months with the new 85 1.2. It was bliss this past Spring.

1. I knew I had to choose from this session, but choosing was impossible.

2. And I knew I had to choose from this session. One of the first days with the 85 1.2 I believe…

3. And how can we resist Ellis’ first steps on film? Managed to focus quickly enough and still get both daddies in the picture clapping for her.

2009 Winter Favorites // Connecticut Children’s Photographer

Now that we are into 2010, I wanted to wrap up 2009 with my favorite images from each season. These are my absolute favorite blog images from 2010, starting with last winter.

1. This laughing image will always be a favorite of mine. So much fun and joy.

2. This will always be a favorite of mine.

3. I love siblings. This is an image I’d love to see big in a home. I think we did do this on canvas if I remember right!

Little Owl // NYC Baby Photographer

I know… I’m supposed to be closed down and taking a break after a crazy busy season… but taking a break for a small business owner is is rarely much of a break- there is always something to do and to be honest- it can be addicting! I have been working on planning my marketing campaigns for the new year to be ahead of the game this year and less stressed during the spring.

Had to do some shooting for a few 2010 marketing campaigns and got some of the cutest images ever- thought I’d share 2!

You’ve been demanding a Jude update… so here he is! 5 months old, lanky, awkward, and cuter than ever.

December 14, 2009 - 10:29 am Rachael - Hi Erin - Ive been trying to get in touch for a few months. I've tried the email and the Austin website and phone. We sent our payment info and still havent heard anything back. I just want to check that you got everything and was hoping you could call to let us know. Ive been holding out taking more pics in the hope that we can get the beautiful ones you took in September.

Sophia // Fairfield County Photographer

I wasn’t going to do a blog post for this last minute session I squeezed in before the holidays, but I fell in love with my little 5 month old client this weekend. Can you blame me? She is gorgeous. Just one of Sophia for now!

Studio Closing For The Holidays

Just wanted to pop in and assure you that I am still alive since I haven’t posted on the blog in awhile. It is official… all orders have been placed for Christmas and we are so close to shutting down for Christmas- on track for the first year ever! Now it’s time to see if I can actually get my own holiday card done in time for the holidays.

Again, thank you for all of the fabulous business and support in 2009. I am a bit flabbergasted with how much our studio has grown this year, especially between commuting back and forth between Texas and Connecticut for awhile. I eagerly look forward to 2010 when I will be rooted back in Connecticut and can meet more wonderful Connecticut and NYC families. I also want to thank you for the awesome turn out for the Black Friday Sale. It is exciting to already have everyone on the books for 2010.

To my 2010 staff members and interns that have spent time doing the tireless process of packing up orders and shipping, driving me from shoot to shoot on long, long session days, and jumping in with editing when it got too overwhelming (specifically Jordan, Jeanne, & Ryan), thank you so much for your help this year.

There are about 10 emails from this week I haven’t gotten back to yet- so if you’re waiting to hear from me- you will by the end of today. Thank you!

Please look forward to an exciting 2010. We have many things planned and look forward to yet another year of working with your families.

Manhattan Children’s Photographer

I had gorgeous Sophia in Central Park yesterday and we were so blessed with mild temperature and a great day in the park. Sophia had just the most fun personality- full of wonder and laughs. She was just a happy toddler in general, and loved her dog Sully. Here’s just a few for now. To her mother- thank you for a great day with Sophia and for making it so fun for me. It really was a great experience.

December 3, 2009 - 4:32 pm Lucia - you ROCK!!! Sophia, Sully, and Sarah (all three SSS!!!!) look great.

Connecticut Baby Photographer

I really hit the big brown eyes jack pot today and had another great little one named Grady. What a precious baby- he loved his daddy (and daddy’s tie) and gave me just the sweetest soft smiles. At this session I got my new favorite family image of the year- focus on the baby with just the perfect touch of the parents in the image.

To his family- thank you for a great session! :) Can’t wait to show you the whole slideshow and can’t wait to see him walking next year!

and that fabulous family image I was speaking of…

December 1, 2009 - 5:59 am Jessica Camara - Thank you, Erin! We had such a great time and I cannot stop staring at these images of my little man. I'm so excited to see the rest! Thank you for being so patient and for all the wonderful suggestions. We're so pleased with the results. Hope you and your family enjoy the rest of the holidays and thanks again for everything :)

Brookfield Children’s Photographer

This cutie is a family friend who has just the sweetest and happiest disposition. I’m a bit bias, but she’s a fabulous baby. Laura- I won’t write a little novel, but you know how much I enjoy photographing her. Hope you enjoy these!

Ruby- at 9 and a half months

My favorite of the day

And just a fun artsy one for the photographer who needed a little creative release :)

Connecticut Family Photographer

This was one of those sessions that made me rush back to my office to edit. Everything went perfectly- the kids were in great moods, their parents were up to anything, the weather and country setting in Weston was ideal, and I have to admit- their photographer really turned it on for this shoot ;) These are some of my favorite images of all time.

To Lucia and the rest of her family- I think you will just fall in love with these pictures. They are just so special to me. The kids were unbelievably photogenic and as I must have said a million times, some of the most well behaved kids I’ve ever worked with. It really makes the session so smooth when the kids are cooperative- I’m sure you two are very proud of them. Can’t wait to watch them grow- will email you with the slideshow in a few days!

November 30, 2009 - 2:10 pm Wende Trew - Those are soooo adorable!!! LOve your work girl!!

December 1, 2009 - 1:25 am Desiree Hayes - Very cute! What fun captures, you rocked it, girl!

Bedford NY Children’s Photographer

These were such fun sisters. I loved their spunk- they kept me on my feet but it was well worth it! Aren’t they stunning? Gorgeous eyes and Mom did a wonderful job with the outfits. What I loved most about this session was capturing the bond of sisters. I love the images of the two girls hugging. To the L family- thank you for toughing it out with me today in the cold morning weather! We got beautiful images of your family and I think you will love the slideshow. Thank you so much for your fun take on the shoot- made the session a blast!

I have a few with Julia looking up too, but I just loved her soft expression here.

November 30, 2009 - 2:12 pm Wende Trew - Just beautiful!
