I don’t photograph too many seniors, but when I do I love it. I love this time in someone’s life- the year of many unknowns and aspirations for the future- and I find most of my seniors are really coming into themselves. As many of my clients know- I’m in my mid-twenties so it’s kind of funny to shoot kids that are in a point in their life that was in not too many years ago- but I think that’s what helps make me relatable.
I met Niels in downtown Southington, one of my favorite spots to shoot, this past week. We were given beautiful weather and Niels was a lot of fun to photograph- very natural in front of the camera and made my job easy. To Niels and his family- hope you love these images. I think they really came out great- a great mix of modern senior photography that is classic with a bit of edge. Looking forward to showing you the rest!
I love what the beautiful evening light adds to this picture

One of my regular families contacted me this summer because their dog, Pete, is beginning to have some health complications. They realized they might be reaching the final chapters of Pete’s life with them, and they wanted to capture Pete with their daughter Savannah. Posing a dog and 18 month year old is never easy, but we got some beautiful special images that I just love. So classic feeling. Hope you three love these- I think they will be cherished for many years and I know when Savannah is older, it will be so special to be able to look back and show her her childhood dog. All the best to Pete!

Our studio will unexpectedly be closed Sunday and Monday, August 29th and 30th. We will be in touch on Tuesday. Many thanks for your patience!
I met these three 2 years ago when I first photographed the youngest, Ian and Chad, as newborns. They’re two now and a bit easier to chase down then they were at 2 weeks old, but I swear they just get cuter every time I see them. Big sister Jillian is always such a pleasure to work with as well- she’s such a happy spirit and just so beautiful to boot. I love my regular clients because it feels like I’m seeing extended family at each session- there is nothing more fun than watching your clients grow over the years. Thank you to their wonderful parents who invite me out each time.
We met in Fairfield at Jennings Beach and got an absolutely gorgeous day. Beach lighting is always tricky for a photographer, but we made it work for a bit then headed over to the shaded playground. I just love these pictures- I think each of them shows their spirits so well.
Enjoy C Family!

Just updating to let everyone know that after a week off, we reopened the studio today but due to a day of sessions are still trying to get back to all of the recent inquiries and emails. So many great families to write back to in the next few days- thank you for your patience in letting us get in touch with everyone. If you have emailed or called us in the last 8 days, we will be responding to you shortly. If you don’t hear back from me by Saturday evening, please get in touch again as perhaps we might have missed it.
Just an update on our holiday schedule for this year:
Our last day taking sessions before the holidays will be: NOVEMBER 20TH
Our last day in the office this year will be: DECEMBER 15TH
All orders placed on time this year will be shipped out by the 15th of December to arrive the 17th or 18th in time for sending cards out and the holidays. The earlier we can get you on our fall schedule, the earlier your order would ship. When scheduling for holiday cards, please note that orders typically ship 3-4 weeks after being placed. Late November sessions will ship a bit more quickly to be out by the holidays.
Every year we close the studio down from December 15th until February 5th for a winter vacation. I will be spending the winter in Austin TX attending a national photographers conference and planning 2011 product lines and schedules. We will still be booking simplicity sessions with our associate photographers for this part of the year.
Please get in touch with us soon to book a session for the fall.
Many thanks!
Going to be brief on the blog since I am still majorly catching up from my week off, but had a great day of sessions today that I couldn’t resist blogging. It felt so great to shoot again today- I feel so lucky to have a job that I am still excited about everyday.
Today I met 2 year old Ty and his new baby sister Maddie. In my career, I can honestly say this is the happiest big brother I’ve ever met. He was just so thrilled with his little sister and so proud of himself showing her off when he got to hold her. I love how real these first moments of him holding her are- I know Mom and Dad will treasure these for years. To Maddie and Ty’s family- thanks for all of your help with the shoot today and having me out. I’m sure these images will be loved for many many years into the future.

and I just had to post this one… love these first brother and sister moments in life. I love to think this one would be titled, “it’s hard to be so loved.”

I spent my evening tonight in Collinsville (Canton) with Taylor who is going into her senior year this fall. Hands down one of the most fun Mom and daughter teams I’ve ever gotten the privilege of working with. This shoot was exactly what I needed after a long day back in the office and shooting- and I couldn’t have chosen a better way to end the day. Thank you both for coming out tonight- I can’t tell you how in love I am with Taylor’s portraits. She honestly did not take a bad picture. Enjoy!

Just announcing that our studio will be closed from tomorrow, August 19th until next Wednesday, August 25th. I will be out of town and we will be responding to all new session inquiries when we reopen next week. During the next week, Erin will have limited internet availability and will be answering client emails for clients we are currently working with every 2-3 days. Many thanks and have a great week!

I know I’m always saying photoshoots are fun- but this one truly was. I met a great crew of people at Walnut Beach in Milford where we did pictures of the two cousins, their families, and Grandma and Grandpa. Extended family sessions are quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Oh and a great job to the family on outfits- love the hint of coordination but not too matchy- that’s what I always love for family sessions.
These were not only beautiful children, but so well behaved! I always have to mentally prepare for working with the 18 month old age, but my recent 18 month olds have been proving me wrong. This little guy was so good for me.
To the wonderful family from Sunday- thank you to all 8 of you! It was so much fun- here’s just a few for now highlighting the kids. Many more great images to come.

This week I got to see one of my little babies from last year who is growing up- and despite being behind on blogging sessions- I can’t resist posting images of this family. They’re some of the warmest people I know, always greeting me with hugs and making me feel so appreciated while I work with them. Jen, the three of you are such special clients to me- I hope you know that. And I hope you love these pictures of Lily! Crazy to think how much she’s grown from last year- I can’t get over the gorgeous curls.
Lily is wearing Ralph Lauren here- I love Mom’s sense of style. She is the owner of the children’s boutique Kidlet- based out of Greenwich. I will post details about them later in the week.
Miss Lily just 10 short months ago:

Lily now:

I met the happiest boy in the world today- Charlie is 20 months old and about to be a big brother. We wanted to get some special images of him before he’s one of two. He was all smiles- this is usually a tough age but photographing Charlie today was so much fun- and I love Mom’s classic taste in clothes.
Thanks to Charlie’s Mom for bringing him out today- he is just adorable! Hope you love these two for now- many many more to come.

I attended a shoot today with our associate Mel, and I couldn’t help but jump in and take a few images myself at the end. 15 month old Savannah was just born to be photographed. She was our typical hard to chase down toddler (which we have plenty of practice with!), but the images we got of her are just beautiful. Big blue eyes, perfect baby girls- a photographers dream.
Thank you so much to her family for bringing Savannah out to be photographed- I hope you love this sneak peek- another sneak peek with Mel’s images coming soon.

Great news- it is the final weekend of July and that means our fall calendar is now open. Scheduling priority will go to return clients and those on our waiting list. Over the past few years, the majority of September, October, and November weekend dates are booked within the first few weeks of the fall calendar opening up. Although we will sometimes add additional dates mid-fall, prime times of day and days of the week are usually booked by September 1st. To take advantage of this beautiful fall weather and get your holiday cards taken care of, please email us as soon as possible to get on the books.
This year we will be taking sessions until November 15th. Our studio will be open and processing orders until December 15th. All orders will ship by that date and we will be closed for holiday break until February 1st, 2011 with the exception of a handful of simplicity sessions done by our associates Mel and Lisa. I will be away for much of the winter- I’m heading to San Antonio after Christmas for Imaging USA (a spectacular photographer’s conference) and then to Austin for four weeks where I will plan our 2011 product offerings and schedule.
I believe we will have a shorter foliage season this year due to the warm summer- so consider booking for September this year. September is perfect for back to school clothes, perfect mild weather, & beach shoots.
Email us at erinbell@erinbellphotography.com to get on our fall books- we look forward to seeing our return clients again and to meeting new ones!
And just to include one image…
